Tari’s weather is typically mild and temperate, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F) throughout the year. The region experiences frequent rainfall, especially from November to April, contributing to its lush greenery. Mornings and evenings can be cooler, so it’s advisable to pack layers.

The Huli Wigmen Experience: A Four-Day Cultural Adventure in Tari
ITINERARY
Upon arrival at Tari airport from Port Moresby, you will be met by your guide and transferred to South Koroba, Hetamali Village. In the afternoon, explore the local villages and get introduced to the Huli culture and traditions. Learn about the daily lives of the villagers and their customs. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Lakwanda Village Lodge, where you will participate in a cultural session with Thomas and his family.
After breakfast, visit the fortune tellers’ skeleton hut and witness their unique practice of using ancestral skulls to foretell the future. Continue your journey to the majestic Tari Waterfall, where you can enjoy the stunning natural beauty. Explore hidden caves and several local villages, learning about their history and traditions. Return to Lakwanda Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Start your day with a morning walk to the Tagali River, where you will take a five-minute canoe ride across the river and walk into Tiki Village. Explore the native village and engage with the villagers to understand their way of life. Proceed to Tokia Bridge and have a traditional lunch cooked in an earth oven, known as “mumu,” at Tokia Village. After lunch, continue to visit other local villages, deepening your understanding of the region’s diverse cultures. Return to Lakwanda Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to Tari airport for your return flight out, concluding your immersive experience with the Huli Wigmen and the local tribes.

Accommodation is basic but clean, and at some places can be with shared toilet or showers. We stay with the tribes at local homestay guesthouses. Electricity is available during most of the whole trip, also you will have internet access. (For phone access you need to pay extra SIM card at Port Moresby airport)
Due to unforeseen events the organizers can change the program during the execution of the trip. We will do our best to follow the program and include all events mentioned. We make plans to cover most problems should they arise, which is very seldom, but the visitor must be aware of the small possibility of plans not working out as per schedule and accept this warning.

We ask for a deposit of 50% to be paid. As soon as we have the deposit your booking reservation is confirmed. The deposit is non-refundable but valid for next year’s trip to join.
We ask for the final balance of payment 2 months before the expedition commences.
Cancellation within 3 weeks of the commencement of the expedition incurs a penalty of 100% of monies paid to date. Payments can be done by international bank transfers in EU, USA or Thailand (Asia).
