6 Nights / 7 Days – Asaro Mudmen, Skeleton Tribe & Waterfall Cultural Experience

Day 1 – Goroka – Asaro Mudmen

Pickup from Goroka and transfer to the Asaro Mudmen Tribal Eco Lodge.

After settling in, begin your introduction to the famous Asaro Valley and its traditions.

Day 2 – Gurupoka & Gimesave Tribal Experience

After breakfast, experience the Gurupoka Ghost Walk, where local guides explain traditional stories, spirits and beliefs connected to the surrounding landscape.

Later, continue to nearby Gimesave for a full cultural experience with several unique groups.

Spend time photographing the different groups and interacting with members of the community.

Return to Asaro in the late afternoon.

Day 3 – Asaro – Chimbu – Skeleton Tribe

After breakfast, leave Asaro and travel through the dramatic Highlands towards Mindima in Chimbu Province.

On arrival, check in at the Omo Bruglgamo Skeleton Tribe Eco Lodge.

After lunch, meet the famous Skeleton Tribe and discover the stories behind their extraordinary body painting.

Day 4 – Skeleton Cave, Insect Hunters & Dust Shakers

After breakfast

Local guides explain the stories and beliefs connected to the cave and the origins of the Skeleton Tribe.

After returning for lunch, continue with more cultural experiences around Mindima.

Day 5 – Skeleton Tribe – Wii Towai Waterfall

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning in Mindima before continuing to the remote Wii Towai Waterfall Bungalow in the Nauro area.

The journey takes you deeper into the Chimbu Highlands and the traditional lands of the Giure clan.

On arrival, settle into the lodge and enjoy the surrounding forest, mountain scenery and multi-level waterfalls.

In the afternoon, begin your first cultural encounters with the local community.

Day 6 – Waterfall Tribes & Hidden Chimbu Culture

Today is dedicated to the unique cultural groups living around Wii Towai.

After breakfast, spend the day enjoying performances, village activities and photography in the beautiful waterfall surroundings.

Day 7 – Waterfall Morning – Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed final morning at Wii Towai.

Depending on timing, there can be additional opportunities for:

  • Swimming or relaxing at the waterfall pools

After lunch, say farewell to the community and continue towards Mt Hagen, Goroka or your next destination.
